Paper Formatting Guidelines
- Use 8 1/2 x 11 inch white paper.
- Type or word process the paper.
- Use 12 point type and a serif font; examples include Times New Roman, Palatino, and Courier.
- Margins should be at least one inch and should not exceed 1.25 inches.
- Text should be double spaced.
- Do not include a title page.
- On the top of the first page of the paper, write the course number, the date, and the title of your paper.
- On the back (verso) of the last page of your paper, write your name. (The person who puts papers in the student files looks only at the BACK of the paper.)
- Further formatting information for MHGS:
It is the usual practice that papers are formatted in accordance with standards presented in either the 5th edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual, (www.apastyle.org) or the 15th edition of The Chicago Manual of Style, (www.press.uchicago.edu), unless otherwise designated by the professor.
These publication manuals are available in the MHGS Library. Examples can be found using the APA Style and Chicago Style handouts on the MHGS Writing Center pages.
