timely warnings
MHGS is required to alert the community whenever there are any Clery Act crimes committed on campus and reported to those with security responsiblities. The MHGS community will be notified via email/text message and/or directed to applicable notices posted on the MHSG website (www.mhgs.edu) if conditions at or near the school are considered dangerous and/or students, faculty and staff should avoid the premises. If the police notify MHGS about a specific incident in the Belltown neighborhood, this will be communicated as well.
voluntary, confidential reporting
If you are the victim of a crime and do not want to pursue action with security personnel at MHGS or the criminal justice system, you may still want to consider making a confidential report. With your permission, the Facilities Manager or a designee can file a report on the details of the incident without revealing your identity. The purpose of a confidential report is to comply with your wish to keep the matter confidential, while taking steps to ensure the future safety of yourself and others. With such information, MHGS can keep an accurate record of the number of incidents involving students, determine where there is a pattern of crime with regard to a particular location, method, or assailant, and alert the campus community to potential danger. Reports filed in this manner and counted and disclosed in the annual crime statistics for the institution.
preparing the annual security report
MHGS crime statistics are compiled on a yearly basis from daily records maintained by the Facilities Manager. The Director of Organizational Development and the Academic Dean, as well as Practicum Leaders and Facilitators are knowledgeable about the reporting categories and locations. Data from local law enforcement is also included when applicable in an effort to ensure that all crimes are reported. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act Report is updated annually and incorporates the year's statistics. The annual MHGS Security Report is then posted on its website. Distribution notices of the posted report with an attached link to the Security Report occurs by email to current students and all employees. New students and employees receive a paper copy of the report in their orientation sessions. Paper copies are also readily available from the Facilities Manager.
