"We were on the roof of America and all we could do was yell, I guess - across the night, eastward over the Plains, where somewhere an old man with white hair was probably walking toward us with the Word, and would arrive any minute and make us silent."

How to Apply for Financial Aid

Step 1:  Students submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. The FAFSA collects financial data and other information that is used to calculate the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that ultimately determines a student's eligibility for aid.

Please note the Federal School Code for Mars Hill Graduate School is G34664.

Step 2:  The school recieves an electronic copy of the FAFSA submitted by the student.  This allows the school to create an award letter for the individual student.  Once a student has been accepted and enrolled into a degree program the student will be able to view this award letter on ourMHGS.net

ourMHGS.net is our student portal where students can access there student accounts, register for classes and complete their financial aid.  Once a student has enrolled they can register for access to this system.

Step 3:  Students will accept their award letter online through ourMHGS.edu.  This will allow the school to know how much financial aid the student wants to accept.  Graduate students are offered upto $20,500 in stafford loan per year.

Step 4:  Students must complete a Direct Loan Master Promisory Note.  This is completed online through the Direct Loan Website.  Once complete the school is notified.

Step 5: Students must complete a Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling.  This is also completed online.  Once completed the school will be notified.

*At this point the student has completed the financial aid process, the financial aid office will contact the student if any further information is needed.

Financial Aid Disbursements & Refunds

Financial Aid is disbursed at the beginning of each term.  MHGS is a trimester school so all financial aid is disbursed in thirds (1/3 each trimester.)  Loan funds are applied to the students account to cover any tuition charges, once the charges have been paid if there is a credit balance a refund check will be cut to the student.  These checks are available the first week of classes (as long as the student's financial aid was completed on time.)
